Although we chose not to dress up for World Book Day this year, students had plenty of fun developing their love of reading during the day.
All of our staff had the name of a book and an author on the back of their lanyard and pupils scurried all over school collecting them before handing in their completed forms at the library for the chance to win a giant Easter egg. A great big thank you to Morrison’s and their community champion Kayleigh for donating the prizes.
Year 7 were treated to a Royal Shakespeare Company streamed performance of Macbeth, starring Christopher Eccleston, in the hall and years 8 to 11 enjoyed a school-wide story, The Monkey’s Paw by W. W. Jacobs, where a short piece of the story was read, either by a staff member (or John Lithgow thanks to the wonders of the internet!) every lesson. The short film of the story was also shown in the Literacy Centre at the end of the day.
