Admissions

The place to start your future

Do you want your child to join the THS family?
As well as our intakes in September, places do occasionally arise in other year groups throughout the school year for a number of reasons. If you would like to apply for a place with us contact Calderdale admissions
.

As we are a community school, Calderdale Council is our admissions authority. If your address is within Calderdale, then please apply via Calderdale Council. If your address is within a different local authority area then you can still apply for a place at Todmorden High School via the admissions team for your local authority. We can consider applications for every age group, please get in touch with your local authority to find out more. You can also find out about appeals arrangements by contacting Calderdale Council.

Admissions to secondary schools through Calderdale usually close at the end of October (31st).

Primary Transition

We understand that moving up to high school can be daunting for both children and parents alike. We have prepared a wealth of information that you can access at your own convenience on our website. We run a range of activities to support with transition including:

  • Y4 Ambition Mornings – for invited students – Spring Term
  • Y5 Taster Mornings –  an opportunity for Y5 students to come and have a taster session of High School life – Summer Term
  • SEND and Pastoral transition visits into Primaries – Spring Term

In the Summer Term before pupils move to High School we hold several events:

  • Extended Transition – for invited students
  • Transition Evening
  • Transition Day – this is a full school day – An opportunity to practise getting to and from school as well as meeting some of our staff and experiencing High School lessons.

Todmorden High School also works closely with all the primary schools: we collaborate on key curriculum areas and our Transition Lead meets the Y6 staff of all our feeder schools to ensure a smooth transition from Primary into Todmorden High School.

Look out for information about Transition events which will come to you through your primary school, or on our Social Media accounts.

We are committed to developing positive relationships with parents and carers so please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns, Catherine Vose can support you with any queries catherine.vose@sharemat.co.uk.
