GCSE Options

We are excited to be able to offer you a wide range of subjects to suit your current skillset as well as your future career plans and ambitions.
In Year 10 and 11, all students study the core subjects of English (four hours), mathematics (four hours), science (four hours), and core physical education (PE – one hour). You will also study your choice of four option subjects (three hours of each).
There are many options to choose from, and the structure below should help to guide you. Students must choose at least one subject from the ‘Green’ GCSEs and then three further subjects from either the ‘Open’ (yellow) or ‘Green’ GCSEs (green) box.

*Computer science and separate sciences have challenging content and are therefore only recommended for students currently working at ‘securing’ or ‘excelling’ in maths and that subject. Please take time to read the booklet, watch the subject videos for options subjects (below, and hyperlinked in the page headings within the booklet), and have conversations with your parents and carers, subject teachers, careers advisor (Rob Stoakes), and other adults in school.
